Meet Richard Paterson, UK Enterprise Sales Director and the billing solution that attracted him to Flux

Richard has 25 years of experience across sales and marketing and joins our awesome team on the ground in the UK. We chatted to Richard about why he chose Flux and what he anticipates is coming for energy retailers in the UK and Europe. 

TELL US ABOUT YOUR TIME IN THE ENERGY AND SAAS SECTOR?

Over the past 15 years, I have specialised in delivering SaaS solutions to some of the UK and Europe’s largest organisations. I was responsible for a few of the earliest deployments of SaaS within the retail sector, pioneering the contractual frameworks and the underlying commercials for these solutions. Specific to the energy sector I have worked with, and provided solutions for, energy suppliers, generators, traders and consultancies - so you could say it’s a huge area of interest for me.

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO FLUX?

When I first started in the energy industry I found myself working with suppliers who supported the Industrial and Commercial (I&C) sector. We sold systems that supported energy trading. Early on in the role I detected a pattern - all I&C suppliers were dissatisfied with their billing solutions. It caused them the most frustration and ultimately ended up eroding their already thin margins. At the time we did not provide billing systems but I was very intrigued. When Flux launched FlexiBill, their proven solution for that very problem, I couldn't resist getting involved.

THE CREATION OF FLEXIBILL

To create a solution to the billing issues affecting so many energy retailers such as increasingly complex data and accuracy issues, Flux partnered with Belgium company, Gorilla. Through this partnership, the team were able to identify some of the largest problems facing I&C customers and build a solution that would be smart and of course, flexible. 

WHAT FLEXIBILL OFFERS
